Senior Pictures – Shane – Old Forge – Sandi K Photos

Shane’s mom called me to book senior pictures for her son. They were interested more in architectural images than woodsy and tree filled images. After a few back and forth conversations, we decided to meet at the U. That’s Scranton University for you non-locals! 🙂  We started out with some pretty simple images. As you can see, we started getting some really nice back light as we went on.

From the U we moved over to the Iron Furnaces. I’ve been here before for a photo booth, but never shot here. There really are so many cool places to shoot!

Shane was great about trying anything mom or I wanted to do. I was thrilled with what I was getting in the back of the camera! As I shoot I do show the senior pictures to both the senior and the mom so I can verify that we are all on the same page. I would much rather find out as we are shooting that what I have on the back of the camera is not what they have pictured in their mind. If we aren’t on the same page, I can re-do the images right there. If we wait until the proofing session to find out, we can’t always go back and recreate them.

After we finished at the Iron Furnaces we decided to head over to Shane’s baseball field. He plays for both his school and a travel team. When we got to the field, the gate was locked. We may or may not have jumped the fence. :/

I always try to listen to the kids when shooting their senior pictures. I welcome their ideas. Who knows them better than they themselves do? I would never want to pose someone super stiff in a suit if the kid has never worn a suit in his life. I want them to be comfortable and confident when we are shooting. I want it to be fun. A lot of boys are only getting their pictures done because mom made them, so I’m always happy when I hear them say that it was fun and they had a good time.

This first pose was Shane’s idea. I really like it and think he did a great job!

I’m not usually one for adding all kinds of filters or effects to photos, but these in the dugout just begged for it. What do you think?
